What Makes Google Hangouts A Good Alternative To Webinar Software?

By Yusuf Abdi

When you're running an online business cutting costs is always at the forefront of your mind. The whole reason that you forgo the brick and mortar business style is because you want to minimize overhead and maximize profits.

There are a few constants that no Internet Marketer can avoid though: and webinar software is just "one of those things". But what about Google Hangouts? It's the updated version of the Google talk app that allows for video chat, screen sharing and a lot of other cool features. Could it feasibly replace your webinar software? Let's take a look at what it can do and make a decision.

This question brings up the first (and largest) drawback of using Google Hangouts as a webinar replacement. You can fit up to 100 people in a single text chat; but only 10 in any single video chat. For your business to reach a good audience you're going to need to be able to broadcast to a LOT more people than that.

Google Hangouts is a part of Google +, the social network developed by Google. In order to take part in the webinar you organize on Google Hangouts, you will have to befriend your audience on Google +. This will make staying in touch with your audience a lot easier. You will be able to tell your viewers about the next webinar by simply updating Google + instead of spending the last few minutes of your webinar trying to convince viewers to subscribe to your newsletter or connect with you on Facebook.

You can experiment with Google Hangouts and see what you think, but for a small get together Hangouts are great and very workable. Also, realize that they can be used for bigger projects as well.
