Advantages Of Fiberglass Pools Over Other Types

By Marci Glover

It is almost summer, and more and more people are looking for various ways to beat the extreme heat. People see this as the perfect time to go away to some place cooler or to one that has pristine beaches. Others stay in the safety of their air conditioned homes while slurping cold dessert favorites such as fruit shakes. Others choose to enjoy in fun fiberglass pools and party with peers.

A swimming pool is a container that is filled with water. It is mainly used for swimming and for other water based activities that provide enjoyment. Pools can be accessible for everyone, and can also be exclusive to a select few. They come in varying sizes according to the amount of space intended for it. The largest one is the Olympic size which, yes you got that right, used in Olympic competitions.

These things actually came a long way in the history of humankind. It probably started in present day Pakistan during the third millennium BC. It is nothing like the modern type because it was then lined by bricks and cracks are sealed with tar. The people back then referred to it as the Great Bath. Ancient Greeks and Romans, on the other hand, built similar structures not for bathing, but for military and nautical training.

The rise of the modern pool was believed to have been popularized in the middle of the nineteenth century. They first rose to fame in Britain because a certain river back then was believed to be cursed. There were lots of cases of drownings in the said river. Rescuers themselves perished because they can not conquer the raging river. Due to this, people have thought of making a pool where they can swim safely.

They also come in different kinds. Public ones are generally the largest aside from that used for competition. Anyone can come and use them in exchange for a fixed fee. Private types are typically found in clubhouses and are on a for members only basis.

There are those that are especially for little ones. They measure not more than four feet to reduce the risk of drowning. There are also those that feature waves and currents that mimic natural bodies of water. These are exercise pools that people use to burn fats and at the same time practice so that they will be ready to swim in the actual one without the risk of an accident or an injury.

There are also those that are filled with salt water. These are aptly called ocean pools and are usually found facing the sea. There are those that never seem to have a border, and these are known as infinity types. They are usually found in luxurious resorts and hotel towers.

They are also classified according to the materials from which they are made. Concrete pools are the traditional ones that everyone knew. These are especially made for diving because they do not have standard sizes. In short, you are free to make your own design that will best fit your needs.

Fiberglass ones are prefabricated types that can be installed in three days, maximum. They are smooth to the touch so that the user will not incur abrasions, bumps, scratches and bruises when getting in and out of the pool. They are also easy to maintain and requires not much money.
