Get Creative With Garden Junk Crafts

By Linda Ruiz

There's nothing like making something that you and others can enjoy. If you are into crafting and want to try out a something different you might be interested in garden junk crafts. So get outdoors and get creating with some of the hints and ideas that are below.

If this is something that you haven't heard of it is pretty simple. You take items that you would normally throw away and transform them into decorative or useful pieces for the garden. These projects can be a lot of fun and you can get the whole family involved.

The best way to begin is to gather things you can use to craft with. Choose anything that can last outside and get inspiration from previous projects that you can view online. Most items from around the home can be turned into something, but look out for old plates, metal containers and so on.

Next you should get inspiration about what you can make. One of the most popular types of projects is to create planters from the items that you have saved. Or you might want to smash up old crockery to create an easy mosaic effect that you can put onto plant pots and other items.

If you want to start doing projects like this you should get yourself a kit together first. On your list have glue, paints, the items you have collected (you will add to this as time goes on) and a ball of string. These are a good starting point for creating crafts and they are needed for the easier tasks.

You might have large items that you have used in the home that you want to throw out. One of these are headboards that have been made from metal. These can be quite ornate and with a lick of paint you can totally alter their look. Use these in the garden as trellis's for your plants and they will be a real talking point. Not only are these sturdy they will also last for years as even if the metal starts to rust, it will look really good.

Some people like to make decorative items for their gardens and you can easily do the same. Craft sculptures that you can place around your outdoor area. Of how about making mobiles that you can hang from trees, or even home made wind chimes. Once you start the ideas will come thick and fast.

Old washing tubs make great planters or water features with a little bit of know how. Or how about using bowling balls as decorative items? You can paint these in various colours or even use your broken crockery to add mosaic patterns on them.

With all of these suggestions to make a start with you will be spoilt for choice when you are deciding on which projects to go for. Start small and in no time you will be ready to take on something a little more challenging. With crafts like this you can make attractive pieces and help the environment by recycling at the same time.
