When this happens, the droplet or particle loses its velocity and directly falls to the vessel.

The droplets remain to be trapped in this kind of medium. One should highly consider as well the Brownian Motion that happens when smaller aerosols collide with the rest of the gas molecules. The overall collision causes all aerosols to not follow the path made by the fluid. It also increases the likelihood of each molecule that strikes the fiber surface which has to be removed.
