Basic Information About Integral Color Concrete

By Linda Ruiz

Houses and other infrastructures of today are often made of a variety of materials. There are still some structures that use the conventional wood and timber for that natural feel, but most often they are made of more sturdier materials. Most often, man made structures are presently made of steel, stone, and concrete, so as to rough even the strongest of storms as humankind now live in very challenging times.

Among the aforementioned, concrete is one of the most widely used in construction projects. It is a composite material that is composed mainly of water, coarse grains and a binding material. All of these elements are then mixed together to provide the same stuff that everyone knows today. Some even add tinges to it, resulting in decorative Integral color concrete.

Integrally colored mixtures fall, along with many others, under the category of decorative concrete. This is used for beautification purposes, although the decorated ones still do the same function as the plain ones. This is a great way to achieving a great construction project without having to compromise anything when it comes to both strength and beauty.

Cement is basically added with tinges so that they will have that burst of shade that doubles as the perfectly original design. The coloring of the said material has revolutionized the way people look at buildings. The gorgeous effect can be achieved through many different methods, each with their own pros and cons.

Stains are one method. They are widely popular because they can be done on both new and preexisting mixes. They are characterized as producing those subtle and earth toned colors that blend in well with any home design themes. Popular shades include terra cotta, tan, and various shades of brown.

Hardeners with a tinge of a certain paletteis another way to add color to any top. These hardeners are often used for concrete stamping, as well as a wide variety of other styles. It not only hardens the mixture easily, it also gives a certain tinge to it. Color hardeners also add a certain protective film that makes any surface resist any form of abrasions.

Concrete dyes produce the most vibrant colors. Since it can result in really bold effects, it is best to use this with caution. If one is set on using dyes, experts advise one to have their contractor to do a mock up, so as to have a preview of the result and work their way round it.

One can also color the stuff integrally. It is not made for preexisting surfaces, and are to be used only for relatively fresh pours. The color pigments in this method is mixed before the mixture is placed, allowing the shade to really mix throughout. Popular choices include earth tones, grays, and even subtle reds. Today, even the most subtle of blues are even achieved with the help of expert mixers.

They produce the best grays, reds, and earth hues. Blues are even achievable with integral coloring. One of the best reasons for using it is the fact that the colors usually last for longer as compared to the others. Even if the surface sports an abrasion, the colors do not break, so the chip usually goes unnoticed.
